Modernization Of Traditional Thatched House

In March 2010 we were invited to visit a past customers newly purchased house in West Berkshire their brief was that they were requiring some alterations of existing room layouts and modernization of their existing kitchen, laundry, bathroom, cloakroom & en-suite and requested that as we had carried out such excellent work at their last house in Amroth, West Wales they would like us to undertake the work again.

The Following Lists Are The Works That Were Completed By Us

Kitchen Area:

• Removal of the existing staircase
• Removal of existing electric meters & concealing new meters in new base cupboard
• Removal of existing fitted kitchen, granite worktops & range cooker
• Removal of oak flooring throughout, dividing walls, supporting beams & ceilings
• Removal of existing kitchen back door, window & small French doors
• Installation of new electrical meters & new electrical wiring/lighting circuit installations
• Create new technical specification drawings for new oak beam installation
• Install new solid green oak supporting beams & new ceilings throughout
• Create double height ceiling space suitable for new staircase installation
• Install larger French doors including altering thatch roof outside & new large kitchen window
• Install under floor heating system throughout & fully tile with travertine floor tiles
• Install new Solid Oak handmade & hand painted NEPTUNE CLASSIC kitchen including granite worktops and appliances & AGA oil fired range cooker

Breakfast Area:

• Removal of existing oak flooring throughout, back door, small window & lowered ceiling
• Install large window & angled ceiling
• Plaster all walls & ceiling
• Install new handmade & hand painted NEPTUNE CLASSIC housekeeper cupboard, dining room table & chairs
• Installation of new NEFF American style fridge freezer
• Install under floor heating system throughout & fully tile with travertine floor tiles

Laundry Room:

• Removal of all existing furniture
• Plaster all walls & ceilings
• Installation of new handmade & hand painted NEPTUNE CLASSIC kitchen with granite worktops
• Installation of new Worcester Greenstar condensing oil combi boiler

Cloakroom:

• Removal of the existing suite, flooring
• Plaster all walls & ceiling
• Reposition new mains water supply
• Conceal all existing water & waste pipe works
• Installation of new Villery & Boch chinaware

Main Bathroom:

• Removal of existing bathroom suite, existing airing cupboard, dividing wall & ceiling
• Installation of new walls & ceiling to suit new room size
• Installation of new bathroom suite incorporating Villeroy & Boch bath & chinaware
• Install new under floor heating system & fully tile with travertine tiles

Master En-Suite:

• Removal of existing suite, dividing walls, concealed pitched roof space
• Removal of existing ceiling to create double height roof space
• Installation of new En-Suite room incorporating wall mounted solid travertine custom made shelves for basins, dual access walk in shower area & luxury CASTELLO freestanding bath
• Install new under floor heating system throughout & fully tile with travertine tiles

And not forgetting a completely new full central heating system complete with new Designer radiators

The total amount of work that we had discussed took three of our teams of fitters, three months to complete, please feel free to look at the before & after photographs to see the full extent of our work completed.
